Man United's Champions League qualifications dreams end after Aston Villa result

Man United are officially out of the top-4 race in the 2023/24 Premier League after their 1-1 draw against Burnley.

That is because soon after that, Aston Villa also played out a 2-2 draw against Chelsea and they now have more points than the Red Devils can get at the end of the season.

The Villans currently have 67 points after 35 matches, while the Red Devils only have 54 points after 34 Premier League games.

The maximum that Man United can reach if they win their last four games, is 66 points and that won’t be enough for a top-four finish.

Unfortunately, even a fifth-place finish won’t help the Red Devils achieve a Champions League qualification because of England’s coefficient ranking being lower than Italy’s – meaning Serie A will get five UCL spots instead.

What the Red Devils can now hope is to finish in the top-6 and potentially gear up for another season of Europa League football.
