Have Man United really been unlucky with injuries compared to Premier League rivals? Answered

Erik ten Hag has mostly blamed the recurrent injuries to key first-teamers as the reason behind Manchester United's downfall this season.

The Red Devils have not had his preferred first-choice players in all positions since the start of 2023/24. With the campaign now drawing to a close, that has impacted results as Man United languish in eighth place now.

But have injuries really been that bad for Ten Hag compared to other Premier League clubs?

The team most affected by injuries this term is Chelsea. They top the list with 54 different counts of injuries to players, missing a whopping 309 games.

They are followed by Newcastle United [38 injuries, 258 games missed] and Brentford [21 injuries, 255 games missed].

Man United have ranked fourth on the list, with 35 injuries and 233 games missed. Liverpool only have one injury count less than Man United, taking up the fifth spot with 34 injuries and 221 games missed.

The Merseysiders have still picked up 24 points more than Man United, which clearly shows that blaming poor form solely on injuries doesn't make sense.

Chelsea and Newcastle are more or less close to Man United's points tally of 54 in the Premier League standings.
