Pep Guardiola is buzzing about Phil Foden's performance this season, however, he still thinks the Man City midfielder can up his game even more. He wants to see Foden not just stick to his all-out creative st..yle but also add a bit of calmness to his play. It's like mixing things up to keep opponents guessing.
Guardiola said: "I said many times. Phil has a sixth gear, but he cannot play all the time in the sixth gear. Sometimes with the second and the third [is fine] and I think with the time, he will learn that."
"I would love to go in sixth gear every single action. But after, you are less precise. If you are in sixth gear and lose the ball all the time that is not effective. Sometimes you have to reduce the moment and he has to know when he has to be aggressive and has to be more calm.'
"But this is a question of time. He improved a lot in that terms from the beginning of the season and the previous seasons."
This season Phil Foden scored 20 goals and made 10 assists in all competitions. In the Premier League, he is now only four goals behind team-mate and Golden Boot leader Erling Haaland.
