Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric concedes terrible mistake in second game in a row — this may cost his team Premier League place

Arijanet Muric has conceded a terrible mistake in a second Premier League game in a row, this time in Burnley's home clash against Brighton.

A simple backpass turned into an own goal as the ball breezed past Muric's leg and glided into his own net. He tried to put things right but only reached the ball when it already crossed the line.

This comes right after Muric conceded another goal-leading error in the previous game against Everton, a direct rival in the relegation fight.

As Muric was scanning his options, Dominic Calvert-Lewin pounced on him. The goalkeeper panicked and kicked the ball into Everton's forward, only to see it deflect into his own net.

The timing of both errors couldn't be any worse for Vincent Kompany's team. Just as they seemed to have a glimmer of hope in the survival race, they only got one point from these two clashes.

Against Everton, Muric's error proved decisive as the clash ended 1-0 for Sean Dyche's team. Against Brighton, Muric's blunder happened when Burnley were 1-0 ahead, the game then ended 1-1.

The Clarets are still 19th in the Premier League, six points away from safety. Imagine if those errors hadn't happened.

Here's Burnley's remaining schedule: Sheffield United (a), Man United (h), Newcastle (h), Tottenham (a), Nottingham Forest (h).
