'No gym, no running': Eden Hazard makes fun of himself naming 4 rules for new training pitch built in his honour

Eden Hazard had a witty response to Lille naming their training ground after him, playfully poking fun at himself. The retired Belgian football star, who hung up his boots last October, was honoured by his former club with a dedicated area at Domaine de Luchin.

Lille shared a video of the unveiling on social media, where Hazard took the stage to speak about the tribute. In a light-hearted moment, the 33-year-old jokingly remarked that he only had one thing to say, before amusingly making fun of his own reputation.

He said: "I only have one thing to say. This is the Eden Hazard pitch. So no gym, no running. Only playing football and breaking ankles."

The joke refers to comments about Hazard's weight during his time at Real Madrid, where people often said he wasn't in good shape and was too heavy. He also made fun of the injuries he had, especially to his ankles, throughout his career.

Hazard is considered one of Lille's best-ever players. The team honoured him by putting up a stone monument next to the training ground and giving him a plaque.

Hazard began his career at Lille, playing 194 games and scoring 53 goals before moving to Chelsea in 2012.
