Club football is back after 43 days: 4 games to watch before Barca resume action

There are 5 more days before Barcelona restart their season with the Catalan derby – but club football is back already!

Watching some Boxing Day matches could be a great way to resume the action.

1. Aston Villa v Liverpool (Monday, 18:30 CET)

The last time Unai Emery faced Liverpool was in the Champions League semifinals – and it was absolutely worth a watch as his Villarreal side almost pulled off a glorious comeback.

Today, the Spanish manager will be without Emiliano Martinez but with Philippe Coutinho, Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings who will be ready to capitalise on Liverpool's error-prone defence.

2. Arsenal v West Ham (Monday, 21:00 CET)

Mikel Arteta is facing a difficult challenge of coping without Gabriel Jesus for months to come – it's talented Eddie Nketiah who's going to be at the heart of things in attack.

Anyway, the Gooners' chances of making another step towards the long-awaited Premier League title are quite high tonight.

3. Leeds United v Manchester City (Wednesday, 21:00 CET)

Jesse Marsch's side have beaten Chelsea and Liverpool this season – are they good enough to stop Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland too?

If Arsenal win tonight's game, the Citizens will be under heavy pressure. Let's not forget they'll have to do without Ruben Dias as their key centre-back.

4. Real Betis v Athletic Club (Thursday, 19:15 CET)

It's the battle of giants among managers as Manuel Pellegrini will take on Ernesto Valverde.

Both teams compete for Champions League spots this season and their football is highly entertaining. You won't get bored if you choose to watch it on Thursday evening.
