'Some of it is short memory': Arsenal fans explain why Arteta can't rest best players in Luton game

Luton Town sit in 18th place in the Premier League table, but some Arsenal fans claim this team is not as simple as it looks at first sight and Arteta shouldn't give a rest to his best players.

topbananaman: "Luton Town took us down to the last second at Kenilworth Road. It amazes me how little respect people on this subreddit are showing them, we cannot just play a b team and get by.

We will make rotations I'm sure (two games a week will need this), but we cannot rest all our best players just to give minutes to bench riders in a game like this."

Mein_Bergkamp: "Some of it is short memories but some of it is just the usual setting up to blame the manager/players for failing to beat the 'weaker' teams.

Too many people seem to think other teams have no agency and whether they win or not is entirely down to how well or badly we play."

LockIllustrious4789: "Luton performances have been waaaay better than their point total might suggest. We should rotate, but only where we absolutely need to.

I think we can get away with Saka resting and Jesus in his place and maybe a Tomiyasu starting instead of Kiwior, but until we have a sizable lead we absolutely should be putting a very strong team against them."

SeaworthinessOk2615: "We literally needed a 97th minute winner to beat them in first game and people still disrespect them. It's not the game to rest half the squad from the start."

"If we're 5-0 up at half time, then sure, make 5 changes, but we need to start a strong team."

Arsenal indeed had a lot of trouble in the last match against Luton. Of course, one of the reasons was a poor performance from Raya who made 2 errors, but Luton showed their best too. If not for Declan Rice's last-minute header, Arsenal would lose 2 points.
