Valverde explains decision not to take PK v Man City

Fede Valverde says he was tired against Man City and opted not to take a penalty in the game as Real Madrid sealed passage to the last four of the Champions League. 

He said: “Why I didn’t shoot in the penalties vs Manchester City? I was tired & because I think that in those moments the most important thing was the head.

"If you don’t feel good, you’re not going to be less of a footballer for telling the truth. And I think that at that moment you also have to get rid of that pride & that ego. If I’m not ready for this moment, I’ll leave it to another teammate.”

Having played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu, both teams settled for a 1-1 stalemate in Manchester. However, Madrid edged their host 4-3 on penalties.
