Pep Guardiola insists Erling Haaland actually did a great job against Real Madrid – especially off the ball.
"Haaland helped [Manchester City] to score some goals, create space for others to score... after Real game, he was extremely happy," the Catalan coach has told the media.
"I liked him lot. A lot. He helps us to create more spaces in areas, his contribution has always been exceptional since day one last season," he also said.
When asked if the plan for Haaland was exactly to create space for his teammate by dragging the defenders away, Pep said: "That's the point."
Seems like a certain someone downplays the role of Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni here! They did really well to contain the Norwegian while his contribution to the City goals wasn't that massive – it's more about the individual qualities of Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol.
