Real Madrid legend still plays 120 minutes in Champions League — he's 41

If you think Luka Modric is too old to play at the highest level, what would you say of Pepe?

At the age of 41, the Real Madrid legend is still competently doing it in the Champions League. On Tuesday, Pepe had the legs and lungs to play for 120 minutes as his Porto side faced Arsenal in the round of 16 second leg.

Pepe barely put a foot wrong as his team threatened to dump out the Premier League leaders from the competition.

Stats show that Pepe made three clearances, one block, a last-ditch tackle and won all but one of his aerial duels.

Unfortunately, Porto lost the game 4-2 on penalties after Arsenal had equalized on aggregate.

After 10 successful years at Real Madrid, Pepe left to join Besiktas in 2017 and moved to Porto a year later where he has continued to age like fine wine.

The powerful defender played 334 games for Real Madrid and won the Champions League three times. He also won three La Liga and two Club World Cup titles.

One wonders when Pepe would eventually call it quits. Certainly not this year.
