Real Madrid decide on first defensive summer signing and it's not Alphonso Davies

It's only March, but Real Madrid seem to have already decided on their first summer transfer. According to Diario AS, Los Blancos have opted to re-sign Miguel Gutierrez.

The academy graduate is currently at Girona, having left the capital for the Catalans in 2022 for a modest fee of 4 million euros. In just two years, he has established himself as a starting left-back, convincing the Whites to bring him back to Bernabeu.

The Madrid board are plotting to offload Ferland Mendy, who is entering the final year of his contract in June.

But what about Alphonso Davies, you may wonder? Well, the Canadian left-back has indeed been heavily linked with a move to Spain lately. However, a stiff competition and a hefty price tag of around 70 million euros make things much more complicated.

Should Los Blancos miss out on Davies, they have Gutierrez as a solid alternative. Besides, the 22-year-old would cost us just almost ten times less.
