Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies in 2024 or 2025, according to The Athletic.
The Canadian has less than 18 months left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and Madrid will either sign him for a cut-price fee this summer or on a free transfer next year.
Barcelona and several Premier League teams have been linked with a move for Davies over the past few months, but joining Los Blancos remains his priority and he has avoided renewing his Bayern contract at the request of Real Madrid.
As per The Athletic, there have been several meetings in recent weeks, including one in mid-February, which has accelerated Davies’ move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bayern are still hoping he will extend his stay in the Bundesliga, however, if that becomes an impossibility, they will attempt to maximise any potential transfer fee for Davies this summer in order to avoid losing him on a free in 2025.
As a result, Davies is increasingly likely to join Real Madrid at the end of the current season after verbally agreeing to the move.
