Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos, who shared nine years and countless trophies together at Real Madrid, found themselves on opposite sides of the field on Sunday.
This was the first time they faced each other at Santiago Bernabeu since the defender parted ways with the club three years ago, returning to his childhood club, Sevilla, this summer.
After the game, Luka and Sergio, who are not just ex-teammates but very close friends off the pitch, swapped shirts and shared a warm embrace.
Speaking to the media in the mixed-zone, Modric said:
"Sergio Ramos is my brother. People always judge us by our age but his level is simply outstanding. Maximum happiness after seeing him. I talked to him yesterday, he was very emotional. He's a legend."
