Karim Benzema will not be part of Al Ittihad's pre-season routine, reports German Garcia Grova.
The Frenchman has been absent from training for six days already. January 12 was set as the deadline for his comeback, but it never happened, so the team's head coach, Marcelo Gallardo, has excluded him from the squad.
The 36-year-old was spotted in Mauritius with his ex-wife where he was enjoying his vacation. His camp claim the player is 'stuck' in the African country due to a tropical storm.
The superstar forward is now been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon who might loan him until the end of the season.
Benzema has scored 12 goals and delivered 5 assists in 20 appearances for Al Ittihad which is below many fans' expectations. Some of them even nicknamed him 'Ben-Hazima' which translates as 'the son of defeat'.
Al Ittihad currently sit in 7th in the Saudi Pro League table, 25 points behind league leaders, Al Hilal.
