Martin Odegaard was actually 'convinced' that he would finally be a first-team player under Carlo Ancelotti, MARCA insist.

However, when the Norwegian came up to talk to the boss, the latter told him that it would be very difficult for Martin to get game time.

Odegaard considered it a request to leave, the source explains.

The 22-year-old has re-joined Arsenal, this time on a permanent deal, for €35m plus variables.

Odegaard made just 11 appearances for Real Madrid between 2017 and 2020.
