Did Ten Hag have strongest players available only once in 18 months? Answered

Erik ten Hag once again alluded to injuries being the major reason behind Manchester United's downfall this season.

At his press conference for the FA Cup semi-final with Coventry City, Ten Hag claimed he had his best players available only once in the last 18 months.

That was last season's win over Manchester City at the start of 2023. According to 'chatter among journalists' at the conference, cited by the MEN, that's not true.

Ten Hag had his strongest players available for the wins over Wolves and West Ham United. The Red Devils collected six points as Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Casemiro all featured.

Injuries have been frequent but the defenders have been the worst affected out of the lot.

Additionally, Ten Hag did not have Diogo Dalot available for the Man City clash he referenced; Tyrell Malacia filled in for him instead.

Injuries have been unkind to Man United this season but arguably, that's not the only reason behind the poor form.
