Since Manchester United's negotiation with Newcastle United for Dan Ashworth is taking longer than expected, the club have reportedly decided who will be responsible for transfer decisions this summer.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Ashworth was expected to make the decisions as Man United's new sporting director, replacing John Murtough.
However, with Ashworth not likely to be part of the team anytime soon, Man United have decided Matt Hargreaves will be in charge of recruitment.
Hargreaves replaced Matt Judge in 2022 as director of player negotiations; he played a role in all the transfers that happened last summer.
The MEN adds Man United usually finalise their transfer strategy for the summer in January but were unable to do so this time as Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 27.7% stake was confirmed only in February.
