'He scored 3 goals in 3 games': Ten Hag leaps to Rashford's defence after dismal Chelsea outing

"I think lately his form is progressing and so the time will always be right [for a comeback]," said Erik ten Hag while discussing Marcus Rashford's form at his pre-match press conference.

"I think he has a big motivation because he wants to be successful with us.

"He wants to score goals but he wants to win trophies and contribute and we still have a chance in the FA Cup.

"He wants to fight for a Champions League spot and the Euros are coming so I will say his motivation should be high.

"And the form, that is a moment and he can change the momentum always. Before Brentford, he scored three goals in three games."

Indeed, the Manchester United forward raised expectations before going into the international break with a brief goalscoring run.

However, he once disappointing once again in the 4-3 defeat to Chelsea. Despite spending 35 minutes on the field as a second-half substitute, Rashford failed to get more than 12 touches on the ball.

He faces yet another big test against Liverpool as his Euros spot seems to be in growing danger.
