Man United begin contacts with Nice defender to solve major defensive problem (reliability: 4 stars)

Man United have endured a lot of trouble when it comes to filling the left-back role in recent months due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Now, as per the Evening Standard, the Red Devils have already started contacts with Nice defender Melvin Bard over a possible summer move.

Man United have made it a priority to sign a new young left-back in the summer and envisions Bard to have the capability of excelling at Old Trafford.

With both clubs sharing the link through Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who owns Nice and also a Man United co-owner, a deal could be smoothened over easily – especially with the 23-year-old having two years remaining on his contract.

Bard has impressed in Ligue 1 as an attacking left-back for Nice, and is being tipped to soon earn his first call-up for France before Euro 2024.

He has made 28 appearances across all competitions for Nice this season, providing two assists and helping them keep 14 clean sheets in 26 Ligue 1 appearances.
