Mason Greenwood reluctant to play for Man United due to one reason – The Athletic

Mason Greenwood’s resurgence at Getafe this season has inspired many Man United fans to want him back next season.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe hinted in an interview earlier this year that no decision has been made yet on his long-term future, potentially opening doors to a return.

However, as per The Athletic, Greenwood is himself reluctant to play for his boyhood club after his loan spell at Getafe has ended.

This is because he is still annoyed with how the club handled him during his suspension amid his domestic assault case.

Greenwood was not impressed by the lack of support he received from the club during his legal case and how they completely sidelined him for a long period of time.

The current working assumption is that the Englishman will be sold in the summer. Man United can greatly benefit from his sale, as it can help them generate decent money that can be put into the summer transfer war chest.

Greenwood’s contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer of 2025, which is why he’s likely to be sold this summer.
