Varane, Shaw & more: Potential return dates of 7 Man United stars before Chelsea clash

Man United’s injury troubles got even worse in the 1-1 draw against Brentford in the Premier League clash at the weekend.

The Red Devils have suffered from injury problems all throughout the 2023/24 season, something that has impacted the consistency of their performance levels.

Ahead of two huge games against Chelsea and Liverpool in the league, here we look at the latest injured players and their potential return dates.

Varane had to be taken off against Brentford at half-time due to an injury he suffered after a clash with Ivan Toney. However, he later reaffirmed that his injury isn’t that bad – indicating that the Frenchman shouldn’t be out for long.

Potential return date: vs Liverpool (7 April)

Lindelof was another player to get injured against Brentford, forcing an early return to action for Lisandro Martinez. The Swedish centre-back looked in a rough shape after being ta ken off and was reportedly limping after the game, indicating that he could be in for a lengthy lay-off.

Potential return date: Unknown

Evans could provide some depth to Man United’s centre-back situation once he returns from his unspecified injury. Despite missing the last game, the experienced defender’s issue is not perceived as that bad.

Potential return date: vs Chelsea (4 April)

Ten Hag had stated before the Brentford game that he expects Luke Shaw to be back in shis quad before this season is over. If things go well, then the Englishman could return for the final stretch and potential in time for a possible FA Cup final.

Potential return date: Late April/May

Martial will need to work hard and do miracles in training to convince Ten Hag to play him for Man United before his contract expires in June. He had surgery on a groin injury in late January and was, at that time, touted to be out for around two-and-a-half months.

Potential return date: April

Bayindir was recently seen working on his own in training after recovering from an injury problem. But with Andre Onana’s impressive form, the Turkish goalkeeper is unlikely to play even if he rushes his return.

Potential return date: April

Malacia’s season has been destroyed by injury problems and he is also reportedly suffering from mental health problems. At this point, it doesn’t seem like the left-back will play any minutes this season.

Potential return date: July
