Man United refuse to compromise on compensation fee for Dan Ashworth – identify person for summer transfer negotiations

According to the Daily Mail, Man United and Newcastle United are both refusing to reach any sort of compromise over Dan Ashworth’s possible move.

This has led to both clubs starting to plan to have a summer transfer window without a sporting director in place.

The Red Devils are adamant that they will not be paying a shocking £20m compensation fee to Newcastle to rope in Ashworth as their next sporting director, with the Englishman currently on gardening leave.

As a result, the hierarchy at Old Trafford has decided that the new incoming CEO Omar Berrada will be taking charge of the transfer negotiations.

The Spaniard has plenty of experience in working on transfers, having done it quite often at Man City in the past.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is an admirer of Ashworth, but the club does not want to send the wrong message by paying a highly inflated fee just for a sporting director.

This would mean that Berrada will do the negotiations for the signings that Man United make in the summer as well as on possible player sales.
