'Evolve the club's level': Casemiro tells Ineos how to get Man United back competing for major honours

Speaking after the 3-1 loss to Man City on the responsibility on Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe to improve the state of Man United, Casemiro told ESPN: “That is the big objective.

“We also have to be humble to accept that they are at the moment, not in history, as the history of Manchester United speaks for itself, but they are today the team to beat. Everyone wants to beat City. We have a mirror here, which is City, and they have been doing a great job.

“Of course, when people from outside arrive, who want to add and evolve the club's level, it is always important. It is very clear that the company [Ineos] and the new owners want to do this. I hope that they arrive and grow together with us, as it is important for the club to have people who want to grow here.”

What Casemiro is trying to indicate is that Man United buy players who want to enjoy their best years at the club and have the hunger to elevate the quality of the squad and help the club compete for major trophies again.

The Brazilian knows a lot about winning trophies, having won five Champions League titles at Real Madrid, but there are still question marks over his future at Old Trafford after struggling with injuries this season.
