Man United 'very interested' in two big-name defenders - one played under Ten Hag at Ajax

Man United are keen on signing Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt, according to the latest reports from Germany.

Sky Deutschland claims that Erik ten Hag is ‘very interested’ in bringing the player to Old Trafford. Ten Hag and De Ligt know each other from their days at Ajax. 

However, the report adds that De Ligt is ‘not planning a winter escape’, especially because he’s set to get minutes due to Kim Min-jae’s trip to the Asia Cup.

Another report claims that United have enquired about Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo. He is expected to cost over €80m this month and the player wants to stay in January. 

The Red Devils are hoping to sign a centre-back to replace Raphael Varane who is out of contract in the summer.
