Sir Jim Ratcliffe's other 3 clubs: how they fare

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 25% ownership stake at Man United has been confirmed after months of speculation.

That means that the British billionaire has now agreed to become a co-owner for the Red Devils. He will be responsible for sporting control at the club, and is set to appoint executives to do the decision-making for him.

Sir Jim’s acquisition of the part-ownership stake at Man United had made it the fourth club his INEOS company has invested in.

The Ineos football portfolio also involves Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, Switzerland club FC Lausanne and RC Abidjan in the Ivory Coast. Here we look at how these teams have fared under him.

OGC Nice

Sir Jim acquired OGC Nice back in 2019 and his Ineos company has been their owner ever since. Under him, the club has gone through some ups and downs – finishing in 9th position and 6th position over the last three seasons before the current 2023/24 campaign.

However, some smart decision-making and signings have taken Nice to become title contenders this season. They are currently second in the Ligue 1 table, five points behind PSG and have only conceded nine goals in 17 games.

FC Lausanne

Ineos acquired Swiss club FC Lausanne-Sport in 2017. The club has not exactly been able to conquer Swiss football and have actually been relegated to the second division for a few seasons over that period.

However, FC Lausanne-Sport were promoted to the Swiss Super League earlier this year after finishing runners-up in the Challenge League (second division) last season.

RC Abidjan

RC Abidjan is probably the most low-profile club that is under the Ineos football portfolio. They currently play in the Ivory Coast Ligue 1 and have shown decent growth in the recent campaigns.

They finished in ninth place in the 2021/22 season, but showed signs of improvement by finishing sixth in the 2022/23 campaign. RC Abidjan have been playing impressive football this season, sitting on top of the Ivory Coast top division after 15 games and have only conceded six goals in that period.
