According to ESPN, Bruno Fernandes went into the referee’s office after the defeat at Newcastle United to ask Robert Jones why he decided not to send Fabian Schar off for a challenge in the second half.
The report adds that Man United was not happy and believed that the defender should have been given a red card.
Schar left Fernandes in a heap on the floor on Saturday night. The United skipper hit the deck in pain, leading to Kieran Trippier eventually putting the ball out of play so that he could receive treatment.
By the time he eventually got to his feet, Fernandes was furious about the incident. He had not even been awarded a free-kick, with replays showing that the referee made a mistake.
There were even calls from Man United fans for Schar to be sent off, such was the severity of the challenge. The defender was lucky to escape some kind of punishment.
