Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Alan Shearer said: "I don't care if it’s your birthday on a Saturday night. If you have been dumped 3–0 and it's a terrible performance, you have got to read the room.
"The number of times that happened to me and to say we had something planned. We've been beaten on a Saturday night and I said, 'I can't go out'. You can't go into a town on the night you have just been beaten 3–0.
"It was daft and it was stupid for Marcus Rashford to do that whether it is your birthday or not. You can’t go out after you have been battered. Dinner is different. But, going into a nightclub, you can’t do that. It's a no no, cancel!"
Rashford was spotted celebrating his birthday in a lively nightclub barely 24 hours after Manchester United were beaten 3–0 by Manchester City at home.
The forward was absent from the Red Devils' next two starting XIs due to an injury but Erik ten Hag insists there are no issues between him and Rashford.
