Erik ten Hag makes phone call to Brian Brobbey in a bid to hijack Ajax deal (reliability: 4 stars)

According to The Times, Erik ten Hag wants to bring in another player who featured under him at Ajax.

The Man United head coach has reportedly made a phone call to RB Leipzig forward Brian Brobbey.

The 20-year-old broke through at Ajax in the 2020-21 season but left for Leipzig last summer.

He only played 124 minutes in the Bundesliga, though, and failed to score once which is why Leipzig let him re-join Ajax on loan in the winter.

Back under Ten Hag, Brobbey proceeded to score seven goals in 11 Eredivisie games.

Ajax want to bring him back now, but Ten Hag has reached out in an attempt to convince him to join United. Leipzig will be willing to sell him for as little as £13 million.

United are clearly light in the attacking area, especially considering Cristiano Ronaldo's uncertain future. However, Brobbey looks more like one for the future than an immediate starter for the Red Devils.
