2021 Tribuna awards revealed: Best apologist of 2021, Clown d'Or & more

As 2021 is nearing an end, it's a great time to hand out awards for memorable moments of the year.

Here's the catch, however — these aren't your usual run-of-the-mill 'boring' awards. Player of the Year, Goal of the Year — we've seen it all before, so here's something new for you.

If you're a fan of The Office TV series and watched the 'Dundies' episode, you may have guessed what we're up for.

If you've never seen it — no worries. Just prepare for a bunch of the most bizarre awards for things that happened at Man United in 2021.

Weirdest transfer rumour of the year

Danny Ings to Old Trafford hardly makes sense but that was one of the most bizarre transfer rumours of 2021.

Forget his Liverpool past - Ings has hardly proven to be prolific in the Premier League. And yet, he was linked with United when we were looking for a striker.

Even the media is dropping their standards.

King of social media

Who better than Roy Keane to claim this award?

We bet both him and his 'first wife' will be very happy.

Clown d'Or

The undisputed long-time champion for this award can be the one and ONLY Mino Raiola.

The agent doesn't lack over-confidence and always makes the most ridiculous statements about his clients and, of course, Man United. There can be no other winner.

Best apologist of 2021

Honestly, we had a tough time with this one. How do you choose from Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire AND Marcus Rashford?

Ultimately, it goes to Maguire for saying 'we apologise' more times than we can count.

Bum of the year

Who else but Ed Woodward? The United executive vice-chairman was the one to get the club into the disastrous Super League plans earlier this year.

After that failed, he tendered in his resignation promising to leave the club. He's yet to fulfil that promise. Moreover, Woodward also delayed the decision to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, potentially ruining United's campaign

Look ma, I made it award

It's not often that you become famous (or a meme, rather) but this man did it.

During the fan protest at Old Trafford earlier this year, one of the supporters decided to prioritise and attempt Wayne Rooney's overhead kick.

It wasn't a bad effort but with all the chaos happening around him, we imagine that's what the end of the world will look like.

Dreamer of the year

Bruno Fernandes is a player who plays with his heart on his sleeves. He loves the beautiful game and was strictly against the Super League this year.

Fernandes was the first United player to break silence after the Super League news in April. He just wrote 'Dreams can't be buy' on Instagram, taking a dig at the Super League and forcing the United management to quickly withdraw from the competition. If you want to be a dreamer, be like Bruno!

Football team of the year

Not United, Liverpool or even Man City deserves this more than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Why, you ask? The man's literally building his own football team with his family. A few months back, he announced that he's expecting twins with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez. That means he will add two more kids to the five he already has.

We bet before he retires, Ronaldo will have a full XI.

Pulitzer award

Who else but the PR managers of the United players? They did quite the job spinning underwhelming results to feel not so underwhelming.

By penning long apologist essays for players after bad performances or missed penalties against mid-table PL teams, the PR managers kept their clients' names in good light.
