'Going for Danny Ings makes no sense to me': Berbatov backs Cavani to do the job next season

Speaking to Betfair about the upcoming transfer window, Dimitar Berbatov said: "I see that Manchester United have been linked with Southampton and England striker Danny Ings.

"He is a good player and I really rate him but I don't think he is what Man United need at the moment. The club have pretty much everything they need in the striking department at the moment, lots of experience and pace.

"Edinson Cavani keeps scoring, proving his worth and proving how good a decision it was to give him a contract extension. So, with all this in mind going for Ings makes no sense to me."

Cavani has signed a one-year contract extension at Old Trafford but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is refusing to rule out the possibility of another no.9 arriving in the summer.

28-year-old Ings, who has been linked with a Man United transfer, has scored 13 goals and provided 4 assists in 33 goals across all competitions for Southampton this season.
