Speaking after Man United’s 3-0 win over Luton Town in the Carabao Cup, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about the Chris Smalling situation and said: “At the moment, we've not had any bids up to the level that we want. So that's the situation.”
As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, AS Roma are aiming to put in another bid to sign Smalling later this week. Their initial offer of £11m was rejected by United, who are hoping for around £18m to sell him and boost their own transfer budget.
Roma are quite desperate to sign Smalling and have been working on finalizing an agreement with United for a long time. The fact that Chris didn’t even feature in our matchday squad for the Luton game makes it safer to assume he isn’t in Ole’s plans for the season and will probably be sold soon.
