Six teams stand strongly against Premier League’s ‘Project Restart’

The Premier League is facing a possibly difficult situation as not every club are obliging to their “Project Restart” plan which can see the season resume with all safety measures taken in June.

According to the Mirror, six clubs are refusing to accept the terms of the Project Restart plan and are still against the prospect of restarting the season in June.

Brighton Hove & Albion, West Ham United, Aston Villa, Watford, Norwich City and Bournemouth have all raised their concerns on the plans and aren’t willing to accept the terms.

However, the report also suggests that Newcastle United, Burnley, Southampton and Crystal Palace are all backing this plan, with the top-half sides also wanting to finish the season.

Right now, 14 teams are ready for the season to restart while the bottom 6 don’t feel comfortable with this plan. However, a 14-6 difference will be enough for the Premier League to make the ruling for resuming the campaign on June 12.

The Premier League is now planning on playing the rest of the campaign at neutral venues, but the clubs are open to doing so if there’s no relegation in place.

The clubs - including Man United - did commit towards finishing the season in a statement last week, but now it looks like there could be a few bumps in the road before things can be finalized for a possible return of football next month.
