Jamie Carragher insists Manchester United-linked Declan Rice could transition from being a defensive midfielder to playing at centre-back.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Liverpool man said: "He reminds me a bit of myself. I started in midfield and went back to centre-back. I'm a big fan of Declan Rice because he's come in and had people say he's great over different stages. Then this season he's struggled a bit.
"When he gets on the ball and he gets his head up and he's looking forward, I think the lad can pass and I think he's got something about him. I think at centre-back he won't have those receiving-the-ball problems with his back to play, if you like.
"Everything will be in front of him and in terms of actually stepping out with the ball, whether the teams he went to played a back three, I think he would be perfect in that type of system, and I think he can pass certainly when he's looking forward."
According to The Telegraph, a tier-one source, West Ham are now open to the idea of selling Rice this summer and the Red Devils are keeping tabs on the Englishman.
