According to The Athletic, Michael Edwards brought back Julian Ward, the former sporting director of Liverpool, to join FSG as their new technical director.
Ward decided to return to the football scene after taking a year-long break. In addition to Ward's return, Edwards has also appointed Pedro Marques from Benfica as the director of football development.
Ward's responsibilities will be vast. He'll oversee player development across all of FSG's football operations, including Liverpool's academy. His duties will also extend to managing FSG's loan department, developing elite player strategies, and even spearheading the establishment of FSG's new football innovation department.
Moreover, Ward will be in charge of football operations at any new club that FSG adds to its portfolio, as the American owners explore a multi-club model.
