Liverpool all but secure Champions League football for next season — thanks to Arsenal win

Liverpool have effectively guaranteed themselves a top-four finish in the Premier League and, consequently, a return to the Champions League after a one-season absence.

The Reds' status is all but secure after fifth-placed Tottenham were defeated by Arsenal 3-2.

Spurs are now 15 points behind Liverpool. As they have 5 games to play, they can theoretically catch up with the Reds on points.

However, their goal difference is significantly worse: they need a 27-goal swing to finish ahead of Liverpool even if the latter lose all the remaining games.

The end of the season has been a major disappointment for the Reds. However, at the start of the season, considering a nearly complete midfield rebuild, a return to the top four would've been seen as a positive result of the campaign.
