Arne Slot could take over Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp leaves in the summer, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The 45-year-old Dutch head coach has been on the top clubs' radar for some time following his feats with Feyenoord, both domestically and internationally.
It is in Europe where Slot met his unlikely nemesis — Jose Mourinho.
AS Roma defeated Feyenoord in the Conference League final in 2022, so when the two teams met again in a Europa League quarterfinal a year later, the stage was set for more fireworks.
When asked about his opponent's style of play, Slot, being Dutch, didn't mince words.
"They get results through their way of playing, but I prefer to watch Manchester City and Napoli," said Slot of Mourinho's team.
Unfortunately for him, Feyenoord failed to cling on to the 1-0 lead in the first leg, ultimately losing the tie 4-2 on aggregate.
Expectedly, Mourinho didn't take long to respond off the pitch, too.
In the tunnel, footage captured Mourinho yelling to Slot to watch AS Roma instead of Napoli and Man City.
But Jose being Jose, he didn't stop there. In the press room, Slot's baldness wasn't spared, either!
"No, now you know why my hair is so white!" started the Portuguese. "The other coach is bald, I’ve got white hair. It’s because I’ve had 150-odd European matches, I’ve seen everything."
