'Massive for me and Liverpool as well': Jota talks first goal after injury return

Diogo Jota scored Liverpool's third goal in the 3-1 victory at Fulham. It was the Portugal international's 100th goal in England. Perhaps more importantly, it was the first time the striker scored after returning from a knee injury.

“It was massive for me and for the team as well, that goal always gives you an extra bit of comfort on the lead, it kind of kills the game. I think it was massive for me and for the team, so I’m happy for that,” Jota told Liverpool's official website.

“I was waiting for my chance for the whole game until that point. I knew I was probably not going to make [play] all the game because I’m just coming back after around three months.

“So, yeah, really important for me that I took my chance today and will take that into the next game.”

The 27-year-old has netted 15 times in 32 appearances so far this season, also providing four assists. He has had two separate injury spells keeping him sidelined for three months combined this season.
