Andy Robertson overtakes Trent Alexander-Arnold for all-time Premier League assist record for defenders

Andy Robertson needed just about 30 minutes on the pitch against Sheffield United to provide an assist for Cody Gakpo's final goal in the game.

As a result, the Liverpool left-back has now registered 59 assists throughout his time in the Premier League, more than any other defender in the competition's history.

Before the game, Robbo was joint-top with his teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold who is currently recovering from an injury.

Meanwhile, the Premier League's official website puts former Man United player Ashley Young above the Liverpool duo with 71 assists. He ahs spent more than half of his career as an attacking midfielder, though, which is why he probably should not be listed as a defender.
