Liverpool 8-man manager shortlist after Xabi Alonso snub

Liverpool have prepared a new manager shortlist as Xabi Alonso announced he would be staying at Bayer Leverkusen next season.

Here are the names on the list, as per The Athletic's James Pearce and David Ornstein.

Hottest candidate: Ruben Amorim (Sporting CP).

Next in line: Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton), Julian Nagelsmann (Germany), Paulo Fonseca (Lille).

Under-the-radar candidates: Thiago Motta (Bologna), Thomas Tuchel (Bayern Munich), Thomas Frank (Brentford).

Outsider: Simone Inzaghi (Inter Milan).

There are possibly even more names on the list, but the most likely candidates to take over are clear.
