Now that Xabi Alonso is no longer available, Liverpool are switching to alternative candidates to succeed Jurgen Klopp as manager next season.
They are certainly considering several options, but multiple news outlets, including the Liverpool Echo, claim that their 'favoured target' is Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim.
The 39-year-old has had an impressive spell at the Portuguese club, ending their 19-year league title drought in 2021. They are currently in the front seat for the second title in four years.
The Telegraph claims that Amorim has a £12.8m release clause in his contract with Sporting. This is roughly the same figure as in the case of Roberto De Zerbi: Brighton will be forced to let him go if another club pays ₤12m.
Previously, Amorim's release clause was rumoured to be £25m. However, it appears to be lowering after each season: in 2025, it will amount to just £8.5m.
