Jurgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. And so does Thomas Tuchel at Bayern, leading to suggestions that the Bundesliga champions could try landing the Reds head coach.
But Bayern sporting director Max Eberl insists that his club will respect the 54-year-old's decision to go on a sabbatical after the end of this season.
"I know what it means when you make statements like Kloppo, who said: 'I have no more energy'," Eberl told Sport Bild, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
"Few people can judge that better than me because I went through it. People come first. That’s why I won’t call him."
Bayern are also pursuing Xabi Alonso but he's not the only one on their shortlist. Eberl said that there are "more than four, but not 40 names," and "unusual ideas also appear on the list."
"It's not about making quick decisions, but smart ones. Of course you also look at trainers who are currently available."
