Michael Edwards has agreed to return to Liverpool, multiple sources such as Paul Joyce and Fabrizio Romano have reported.
The Englishman has accepted a senior role with FSG which would put him in charge of all football operations at the club.
Edwards spent 11 years at Liverpool in various positions, rising from the head of performance role to that of a sporting director role. He resigned back in 2022. He oversaw the sale of Phillipe Coutinho and the signings of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson, among others.
The next step for Liverpool would be to finalise the appointment of Richard Hughes as sporting director.
Hughes is currently a technical director at Bournemouth and announced last week that he would leave the club at the end of the season.
