Szoboszlai, Robertson & more: Latest Liverpool injury updates and potential return dates

Liverpool have had their share of injuries over the last few weeks due to the exhausting schedule in the winter period.

The Reds are currently enjoying a short winter break before getting back into action against Bournemouth in the Premier League on January 21.

Here we look at the latest injury updates on the unavailable players and when they could possibly return to action.

The Hungarian midfielder picked up an injury in the first game of 2024, but is back running on the pitch again. Liverpool will not rush his return and risk further issues, but Szoboszlai should be back soon after the break.

Potential return date: vs Fulham (January 24)

Robertson has been making nice progress on his recovery from a shoulder injury and Pep Ljinders recently hinted that the club will assess his situation before getting him back to action.

Potential return date: End of January

Trent suffered an unfortunate injury in the win over Arsenal in the FA Cup and will need a few weeks of rest to get fit again. He’s a doubt for the remaining games this month.

Potential return date: February

The Greek scouser has made a surprisingly quick recovery from his collarbone injury and has also returned to training too. His return should be in a similar timeframe as Robbo’s too.

The Spanish midfielder has struggled with injuries all season long, but he is making progress and Ljinders recently hinted that he’ll be back in action next month.

Thiago has not made any appearances this season due to injuries and is still working on getting back to full fitness without aggravating anything. He should make a return next month if everything goes well.

Matip has suffered a season-ending knee injury and is highly unlikely to play any part for Liverpool in this campaign. With his contract running down, it’s questionable whether he plays for the Reds at all anymore.

The young striker suffered a serious knee injury when playing for the Liverpool U-21 side and will need surgery for that.
