Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones have spoken about the off-the-pitch connections the players in the Liverpool squad have between each other.
“It’s extra-special,” Elliott told the club's official website. “Doing it with not only world-class players at an amazing club, but with friends, players who are so close in your life.
“I keep in contact with them every single day, and even if we were to go off on different journeys, I feel like that friendship would still be there.”
Jones continued: “I go back to the first time I came around the team, I was a young lad, hungry, and for three or four years it was game after game, and I could feel that the lads always knew that each game was really important because of the position we were always in.
“I feel it’s the same now. It’s a younger team – I feel like I’m one of the more experienced ones, and I’m 22! – but I feel it’s a team full of lads who are just really, really close, and I’d actually say mates.”
“I’m sat here with Harvey, who is one of my best mates, but I could be sat here with Trent, Dom, Cody, Ryan, Kostas... I could name near-enough the whole team as a friend in different ways.”
Maybe it's those close bonds between the players that make Liverpool produce unbelievable comebacks this season and stay alive in all competitions they participate in.
