VAR cocks up 24 hours after Spurs v Liverpool mare - Brentford denied stonewall late penalty at 1-1

Liverpool had a number of unfair decisions go against them in their defeat to Tottenham, including a Diaz goal that would have been allowed, had the referees done their job correctly.

It isn't just Liverpool who should have had an apology from the PGMOL though, as there was another team that suffered due to the incompetency of the individuals in charge of officiating games fairly.

Brentford drew 1-1 with a 10-man Nottingham Forest on Sunday but they were denied a clear penalty late in the game.

Forest keeper Matt Turner was pressured by Brentford's Wissa, who took the ball off him, leaving the keeper lunging high into the back his leg.

The following frames show exactly how the action happened:

With Turner getting none of the ball and all of Wissa, it should have been a stonewall penalty, however, Wissa made the mistake of not staying down and rolling on the pitch, pretending to writhe around in pain, which seems like the only way for a referee to understand what a foul is.

VAR didn't intervene in this instance, potentially costing Brentford two vital points.
