'Throws his heart on the pitch': Klopp reserves special praise for one youngster after Leicester game

Jurgen Klopp fielded academy talent James McConnell in the second half against Leicester and the 18-year-old didn't disappoint, putting in an excellent shift.

And it didn't go unnoticed by the manager, who singled him out in his post-match assessment.

"James on the six is just a joy to watch – the boy never played the position before we put him there and he throws his heart on the pitch to fill the role. These things are really good," the Liverpool boss said.

"I think it's now a bit early if we speak about James on the six [permanently]. I just like how he took his chance."

McConnell normally plays as an attacking midfielder for the Reds' U21s side. The Englishman has great stats for the academy side, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 43 Premier League 2 appearances so far.
