Alisson top: all starting goalkeepers in Premier League ranked by performances so far

Goalkeeping expert John Harrison has analysed how each starting keeper in the Premier League fared in the first part of the season.

His xG model looks at a goalkeeper's every action on the pitch, including shots faced, crosses and through-balls faced, and distribution attempted.

It also counts the probability of a goal for or against the keeper's team after each of his actions.

And according to this model, Alisson has been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League so far.

His performances are estimated to have saved Liverpool 4.83 goals over 14 games he has played.

He has a significant advantage over the runner-up, West Ham's Lukasz Fabianski.

Alisson is also way ahead of Man City's Ederson, his competitor for the starting place in the Brazilian national team at the World Cup.

'He's so big': Arsenal strikers on what makes playing against Alisson so difficult

Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli have shared their experience of playing against Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Both named one characteristic of Alisson's that makes him hard to play against.

Jesus: “I have played against Alisson in Brazil and he is so difficult. Two times I went against him one-v-one and he defended my shots.

"They were good shots and he defended them because Alisson is so big.

Martinelli: “He’s so good. When I went to the national team last time, when we played against when we played against Japan and South Korea, I remember when we were in training and I came one-v-one with him and it’s so difficult, he’s so big.”
