Explained: How Alisson saved Liverpool yet again with epic 1v1 save

Alisson Becker was more active against Aston Villa than he is normally used to, with the home team putting a lot of pressure on Liverpool last night.

Although the Brazilian did concede one goal early on in the game, he came up clutch when needed in the second half to save his team.

Liverpool were leading 2-1 and with less than 20 minutes to go, Danny Ings rushed forward past Virgil van Dijk and the rest of the defence to collect a through ball.

He found himself in a 1v1 position against Alisson but the keeper charged out of his line and made himself big to stop a certain goal:

Goalkeeping analyst John Harrison broke down the save: "Alisson the 1v1 king saves LFC again!

"His 1v1 ability is key to Liverpool’s success! He’s class at not over committing early & that makes it so hard for strikers! Backing off initially & only then rushing after makes both the 1st time finish & the 2nd time finish difficult!"
