Liverpool explored the idea of signing Leeds striker Patrick Bamford earlier this year, according to Goal.
The Reds' recruitment team are big admirers of the 28-year-old, as well as Jurgen Klopp who lavished praise on Bamford before their previous face-off.
"He's an exceptional player," the boss said back in April. "The work-rate is outstanding, and he still plays the football he plays on top of that, and scores goals. That's rare."
He also took aim at the striker's critics in the media: "They were saying that Leeds need a proper goalscorer, Bamford is not good enough, stuff like this. I'm so happy that he could prove them all wrong!"
The interest never went far, however, as Bamford had little desire to be a fifth-choice forward at Anfield. Besides, he ended up signing a new five-year deal with Leeds.
After making his debut for England last week, Bamford is ready to take on Liverpool on Sunday, having scored once in three Premier League games this season so far.
