It was reported by The Athletic's David Ornstein that Danny Ings has rejected a new deal at Southampton, which leaves the Saints in a tough position as the striker's contract expires in 2022.
This means that they either let the 28-year-old leave on a free next season or sell him this summer.
If Southampton do decide to sell the player, Liverpool stand to make millions on a deal.
This is due to a clause they included in the deal which took the striker to St. Mary's in the first place in 2018.
Ings joined the Saints in a £20m deal - however, Liverpool included a 20% sell-on clause on the deal, meaning that they will profit from any potential sale this summer!
Ings is valued by Transfermarkt at £19.80m, but seeing how well he has played recently and the fact that he is likely to move to a Premier League club, the fee that Southampton might demand could be more than this.
Admittedly, any potential fee the Reds do get won't be enough to sign a Kylian Mbappe, but every little penny counts this summer!
